Meet the students teaching French in primary schools

At the academy we are always encouraging students to take on extra challenges and build their confidence and skills base. For some students, this means offering them the chance to go out into local primary schools and teach lessons to younger pupils.

This school year our most active ‘teachers’ have been those teaching French to primary school children. They have put together their own lesson plans, rehearsed what they were going to say, and then taught their lessons to whole classes of primary school pupils. The majority of the ideas are theirs’ based upon what they have picked up on in school but also based upon what they find exciting and engaging.

The reception they have received from the pupils has been wonderful, and they clearly enjoy being taught by older students. Our students have been great role models for learning, and have grown in confidence as they face the challenges of controlling classrooms, dealing with PowerPoints not working properly and more!

It is testament to their success that our local primary schools keep inviting them back in to teach even more lessons! It’s fair to say that the faces of the pupils light up when they see our student ambassadors.
