Budding Year 9 gardeners plant up RHS plot

The new RHS Garden Bridgewater in Salford is home to a Community Grow – an area created to inspire gardeners of all experience levels to garden at home and in their communities.

Local community organisations care for the plots while learning new skills, with the help of RHS horticulturists. We have been luck enough to secure not one, but 6 plots! Our Year 9 eco-club students visited last week for the first time – they planted up courgettes, sweet peas, cucumbers, corn and chard. The students are expected to maintain and develop the plots themselves.

The public are able to walk through and interact with our students as they are busy gardening!

The students are keen to get the space designed and planted up as soon as possible, and are looking forward to getting out and about after the restrictions over the past year or so.

Visit https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/bridgewater for information about the gardens, and to plan your visit (free to RHS members and Salford residents!).
