The first half term of the 2018-19 academic year was a particularly exciting times for our sports teams:
Cross country medal winners
We are proud of our Year 7 girls team who came 2nd overall in the competition and the Year 7 boys who came 3rd overall.
It’s been a fantastic season for football this half term.
The Year 7 boys team have made an excellent start to the season – winning their both of their first two matches with goals from Keagan and Kai. The first 4-1 victory was against our sister school, Co-op Academy North Manchester. The team also came away 3-1 winners against Trinity High thanks to a thunderbolt goal from Kai, a long range strike from Blessing and a tidy finish from Adrian.
The Year 9 team won 11-0 against Priestnall school in the Greater Manchester Cup.
A business like performance from Year 10 saw them progress to the next round of the Manchester Cup after beating Manchester Academy 10-2 away from home. Goals from John (3), Brandon (5), Jack & Ryan. MOM awarded to Abdul for a classy 1st half performance in midfield.
There was a great team effort from our Year 8 netball team as they grabbed a 1-0 win against Manchester Communications Academy. The Year 10 did also played really well together in their first match which resulted in a draw with Levenshulme High.
What was the secret for success for the Year 11 basketball team? They won 20-6 in a match against a Dean Trust school. Fantastic individual skills and infectious Teamwork, matched with a competitive and positive environment = victory.
Sporting success outside the academy
Paul in Year 11 has been selected for the Sale Sharks Under 16 Development player programme. Well done!
It’s fair to say that our new gym has been an instant hit with students as they have used it in their lessons. Staff have volunteered to supervise it after school and we are hoping to start opening to students after half term.
