Street League football sessions
Last term, Street League provided free football sessions to 25 of our Year 10 and 11 students.
The sessions took place on Tuesday evenings on our 3G pitch and aimed to develop students’ football skills with FA qualified coaches, as well as providing them with a safe space to interact with each other and improve their teamwork and communication skills.
Some students stayed on to attend further Street League sessions, where they were able to practice their newly developed skills with other young people and meet new friends.
Chadrack, Year 10 said: “The sessions are fun and I’ve made new friends. Since attending the Street League sessions, my aerobic endurance has improved and I’m more active.”
Street League offers an alternative way to develop essential life skills, through the use of sports and sharing real-life advice. They aim to empower young people and support them in work, apprenticeships and training.
“The sessions were really good fun and the young lads engaged fully. I personally only worked with the group for four weeks but they were a great group to coach and there are some skilful footballers amongst them.” Patrick, session leader.
