Unveiling Islam – guest speaker joins our GCSE RE lesson
In December we welcomed Mr Naseem from the Myriad Foundation to run a workshop called ‘Islamophobia and Misconceptions in Islam’. The workshop was delivered to GCSE students studying Ethics and Philosophy. Not only will it help them directly with their exam topics, it also helped the class discuss important topics in today’s society including prejudice and the place of religion.
Mr Naseem commented on our “confident and sharp students” who were “a credit to the school and their families”.
Head of RE and Social Sciences Mr Townsend said that the session “was very helpful for students to learn about the teachings of Islam and to challenge misconceptions. I look forward to welcoming other representatives from faith groups to talk about their beliefs and help our students develop their understanding of the world around them”.
