Updated: induction programme for new students joining us in September
On Monday 8 July to Wednesday 10 July we will be holding our Induction Days at the academy for all Year 6 students who have accepted a place at the academy in September. The induction days are crucial as they offer us the opportunity to welcome students and will give the opportunity to gain valuable information about the academy to ensure a successful transition to secondary education.
Parents/carers: you will need to bring your child to the academy on the above dates at 8:45am for the day to begin at 9:00am. You are then free to leave. The days will provide an opportunity to experience lessons, learn about life in the academy and understand the expectations of a Co-op Academy student.
During the Induction Days, Year 6 students will undertake the following activities:
- be welcomed to the academy by the Principal.
- meet their key members of staff and the Year 7 LPSOs (Learning & Pastoral Support Officers)
- participate in taster lessons.
- participate in a Drama workshop.
Students are required to attend the transition days wearing their current school uniform and trainers or pumps. Lunch and break time refreshments will be provided throughout the three days as will all equipment.
The induction days will finish at 2:25 pm. Parents/carers will need to collect their child at this time or provide a written note to confirm that your child can walk home by themselves. If a note is not received your child will be kept here until collected.
Introductory Parents’ Evening
5pm – 7pm
Parents and carers of all Year 6 students who have accepted a place at the academy in September are invited to attend an introductory Parents’ Evening on Wednesday 10 July. There will be a talk by the Principal and an opportunity to talk to various members of staff and our student leaders to learn more about the academy.
Please note the time has been changed slightly to allow more parents and carers to join us.
Uniform collection day
This day (for students joining us in Year 7 in September) will be SATURDAY 13 July from 9.00am to 12.00 noon.
The blazer and tie will be provided free of charge by the academy this year. However, you will have to purchase the PE kit (polo shirt, thick reversible long sleeve games shirt and shorts) at a cost, for all 3 items, of £23.00.
This is a compulsory PE kit and all students need to have one. Please ensure you measure your child before you come along. You will also have the option to purchase girls leggings, track pants and jumpers (they will be ordered for you as they are optional and not compulsory).
We can only accept CASH payments for the Uniform.
We have sent a number of documents from the academy which need to be returned when you attend on the transition days (or before then). The documents which need to be returned are:
- Admission Form
- Music tuition form
- PLEASE INCLUDE A COPY OF YOUR CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND/OR PASSPORT IN COLOUR – we can copy this for you
Please complete, sign and bring the documents with you on Monday 8 – Friday 12 July as they help us to ensure a smooth transition from primary school for your child.
If you cannot attend the Parents’ Evening or collection the uniform on the date stated, please telephone Reception to arrange an alternative day and time after 13 July.
