MTV EMA Awards 2024
Year 10 and Year 11 students and staff recently attended the glittering 2024 MTV EMA Awards at the UK's largest entertainment arena, Co-op Live, in Manchester, as part of a successful bid to receive free tickets through the charity, Cash for Kids.
The MTV EMA 2024 is a global celebration of the year's best in music, celebrities and culture. Students and staff spent an unforgettable evening in VIP seats, surrounded by celebrities and influencers such as Maya Jama, The Blossoms and Busta Rhymes as they watched the awards and performances from some of the world's best artists.
Co-op Academy Manchester applied for free tickets through the charity Cash for Kids, an organisation that supports children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, life-limiting illness and those who have additional needs. We were extremely excited to find that, despite there being 17,000 applications for tickets, the academy was successful in winning 30 places at the event held at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester.
Year 10 and 11 students who had earned golden tickets throughout the week were able to enter a prize draw to win a place at the awards. Over 150 students entered the draw and came along to watch as Mr Lavelle and Mr Glover randomly selected tickets out of a hat. There were cheers and applause as the winning names were called out.
" It was such a wonderful evening that we will never forget. Several students shared that they had never been to a concert before or watched live music. The whole evening was incredible and to see our students get up and dance and get very excited as the acts performed, was a real joy. All the students were a credit to the academy. Thank you to Cash for Kids for giving us this opportunity and thank you to Mr Lavelle for organising the prize draw and the trip."
