Academy teacher Mr Long collects a trophy at special awards ceremony

Mr Long won a special award at the Co-op Academies Trust Recognition Awards on Friday at the historic King’s Hall in Stoke-on-Trent.

The 'Do What Matters Most' award celebrates colleagues who have gone above and beyond to support the students in their academy. This award recognises unwavering dedication, compassion and a deep commitment to making a lasting impact in the lives of young people.

The competition was fierce, with 38 different schools being able to enter the awards from Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Merseyside and of course, from Staffordshire. Mr Long was one of the recipients of this year's award, along with colleagues from Co-op Academy North Manchester and Co-op Academy Delius.

We are so proud of Mr Long who attended the evening and received their award from CEO Dr Chris Tomlinson. He was supported on the night by Mr Glover, members of the Senior Leadership Team and our Safeguarding Team who were also nominated for an award.

For the past 12 months, English Teacher Mr Long has taken on the role of designated teacher for our cared for children and built strong relationships with cared for children. He has always been a strong advocate for the children looked after, challenging external agencies when he felt decisions being made were not the right ones and ensuring the voice of the child is heard.

Well done!
