Former student Tamar is heading to Oxford
We were delighted to hear from former student Tamar. This summer she will complete her A Levels at Loreto College before moving on to read PPE at the University of Oxford.
A Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) course is an ambitious and popular course that only a few universities in the United Kingdom offer. Famous people with PPE degrees include Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, ITV's political editor Nick Robinson, Prime Ministers such as David Cameron, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak and many high profile broadcasters and journalists.
As a Co-op Academy Manchester student, Tamar took part in the Universify Programme, which she excelled at. The year-long programme starts in the summer after Year 10 to help state school pupils learn what university is like through residential and coaching sessions.
Universify was just one of the many projects that Tamar was involved in outside the classroom, and which she balanced with hard work in every single one of her GCSE subjects. She was a leading member of Eco Club and Eco Council as well as the Lonely Not Alone campaign and anti-bullying initiatives.
Staff at the academy were really pleased to hear from Tamar - as we are from all our former students. We would love to hear from more of our alumni as they move on to university, apprenticeships and employment - so please do get in touch as you move on to the next stage in your career.
