Welcome to this week's update. We are excited for the first full week of term!
📅 Upcoming dates for your diary
Year 7 dates and information
📅 Monday 16 September - we will have professional photographers in to take photos of Year 7. You will have the chance to purchase them, although there is no expectation for you to do so. These will be used internally to help staff support students. Please note, we will be sharing your contact details with the company so that they can offer you the photos. Please get in touch if you do not want us to share details.
📅 Thursday 3 October, 4-7pm - Open Evening. This event is for families choosing their child's secondary school, but our current parents and carers are also welcome to visit us. If you know of any families with children in Year 5 or 6, please share the date with them.
📅 Monday 7 October, 4-6pm - Year 7 Settling-in Evening. This optional event is a chance to come in and meet your child's Heads of Year and senior leaders.

Academy Principal Mr Glover invites you to a presentation to hear about our plans for the year

Mr Glover is excited to share his vision for the year with parents and carers. We invite you to come in and hear our plans to move from "good" to "GREAT" - as well as showing you some of the building work we have undertaken over the summer.
Introducing our new approach to homework
Our new approach to homework is simple - we call it 10:10:10.
We expect every student, every day to complete:
- 10 minutes of revision and rehearsal using Knowledge Expert Sheets;
- 10 minutes of careful reading using the online platform Sparx Reader;
- 10 minutes of maths practice using the online platform Sparx Maths.
Announcing our next academy production!
Following the huge success of last year's spectacular show, Little Shop of Horrors, we are delighted to announce that our show for this academic year is Matilda! It will be coming to the Academy Theatre in February.
For any students wishing to join the cast and ensemble, the messages they are receiving in tutor time are:
- We will be showing the musical in the theatre on Wednesday 11th and Friday 13th September. There is a prompt 3pm start to this. This will be until 4pm.
- We are not holding auditions, but rather, we ask students join our workshops to practice one of the songs - please ensure your child asks their Music or Drama teachers how to join.
