Survey for families of Year 7 students

Researcher: Kate Swindells (Teaching Assistant, Co-op Academy Manchester).

Title of Project: Understanding the transition process from primary to secondary school from a student, teacher and parent perspective.

This research is part of a BA (Hons) in Childhood Studies. The aim of this research is to understand teachers’ opinion towards the transition process and championing students’ views on transition as well as listening to parents’ perception of the transition process to see if interventions could be implemented to support students on this journey.

The questionnaire contains 8 questions that will take you less than 5 minutes to complete. The questions have been designed to ascertain parental views about the transition process.

Participation is completely voluntary; individuals are free to withdraw from the process at any time. There are no risks involved in taking part in this research project as no personal data is collected and your responses will be anonymised.

Lunch payments update

We have a number of machines in the canteen areas where students can add cash to their lunch accounts. There was a problem with one of them that we are pleased to report is now fixed.

We know that some of our students wanted to add money but were unable to do so, and we now ask that families make sure they clear any lunch debts.

At the moment we take cash but we are moving to a cashless offer, so we do ask families to check balances and top-up using Arbor.

Time to Talk Day

Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. It’s a day for friends, families, communities and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives. Time to Talk Day is taking place 6 February 2025 and is run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with Co-op.

We look forward to taking part in school and encourage everyone to visit timetotalkday.co.uk for great information and resources.
