Dear parents and carers, welcome to this week’s update.

Three quick questions about home learning. Click to complete.

COVID update & home learning

Today we have been informed of a new case in Year 10. As a result, we have had to ask a small number of students to isolate and work from home for the remainder of the term.

When asked to work from home, students follow their  usual timetable by working through the Google Classrooms for those lessons – we are monitoring this so we can support students who are struggling. For detailed information about home learning please visit the home learning section of our website.

Sandwell Well-being Charter Mark

We want to make you aware of our school’s recent involvement in the Sandwell Well-being Charter Mark. The aim of the Charter Mark is to recognise a school’s dedication towards improving the Social, Emotional and Mental Health of the school community. We will be conducting an audit of the well-being provisions that are already in place within the school. This will include focus groups with pupils and parents, pupil and staff surveys and reviewing school data such as attendance. From this, we will be working with One Education educational psychology department to create an action plan to help address any gaps.

We will contact you over the next couple of weeks to provide more details. Thank you again for your continued support.

Bus tickets

Transport for Greater Manchester have asked us to share the following message:

TfGM have been working with the operators of our school services to introduce a new weekly ticket that can be loaded straight on to an IGO card, without the need for a paper ticket. Helping us to reduce our environmental impact, whilst cutting down on lost tickets and students travelling without their IGO.

We’re now in a position where all of our operators are able to sell and accept this new ticket type,  as well as a new carnet style ticket that can also be loaded on to a student’s IGO card. For more information about these new tickets please visit:

We will be asking our operators to no longer sell the paper version of the TfGM school weekly, with a view to removing the paper version from the beginning of next term. Please share the attached posters as far and wide as possible so that we keep our students and parents up to date with this change.

If any of your students need to apply for an IGO or replacement, full details can be found here:

The end of term

Yesterday Head of Academy wrote to parents and carers to explain that the last day of term is now Thursday 17 December. Students are encouraged to wear a festive jumper or socks with their uniform and bring a charity donation. A copy of the letter, and all our general communications, is available on our website.
