Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Welcome to our page of information for parents and carers of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We have a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants which provides additional support to the students with SEN and disabilities.
Working in partnership with parents and carers (as well as with students) is important in offering the right kind of support. When we feel students are not making the progress they should be, we talk with parents/carers and students, and we review our practice. No two of our students are the same, and we can differentiate work (meaning we can better match the work to the student). This could involve:
- ensuring teachers to offer a choice of tasks in their lessons to meet the range of abilities in their class
- providing in-class support to students
- individual or group interventions to support them with a specific topic
We aim to provide each SEND student with a key staff member who can act as the main link for that student and their parents/carers. We listen to the student’s and parent’s wishes when planning support.
