Careers advice and support for Year 11 leavers

Important information from Mrs Godfrey, our Careers Advisor.

Our Pass – a bus pass that gives you free travel throughout Greater Manchester

Our pass gives 16-18y year olds across Greater Manchester the freedom to travel to work and college.  You can travel on local buses throughout the week right across Greater Manchester. It also offers discounts to JD Sports, cinemas and some local arts activities and football matches.  It costs £10 for a one-off registration fee.  Go to www.ourpass.co.uk to download a form and find out more.

Colleges – September 2020

You should have now received confirmed offers from colleges for September 2020, and over the summer you need to be checking that you have received details about enrolment, which takes place once you have receive your GCSE Results.  If you have not heard anything, please contact the colleges.

If you are still undecided about college or what you want to study, you can contact Mrs Godfrey over the summer j.godfrey@cam.coop.

When you enrol at your college, you can discuss with the tutors your subject choices and make your final decision about what you want to study at that point.

Apprenticeships – Covid-19 advice

Apprenticeship vacancies are considerably down for this time of year due to Covid-19, which means that it is going to be a lot more competitive to get an apprenticeship.  Unlike college, there is no guarantee of a position.  Apprenticeships are available all year round, and it is likely that more opportunities will be available next year

It is strongly advisable that those seeking apprenticeships also apply to college as a backup.

After GCSE results day, Mrs Godfrey will be available until early September for ongoing support.
